Car Line Procedures - Loading and Unloading

Car Line Procedures - Loading and Unloading

Front of the building (6-12) - After buses exit the campus, cars will pull up in double lines, directed by assigned school personnel. During pick up, students will stand on the sidewalks and under covered entrances and watch cars pull forward. When a group comes to a stop, all cars are placed in park, and then students are allowed to load into that group of cars.  SHS staff will monitor for students to enter their car and make certain all lanes are clear before cars are moved forward and the next group pulls forward to load.

South end of the building (K-5) - The procedure is the same as the front of the building line except cars will have names in the windows. As cars pull forward, SHS staff call student names, and students move from hallways to sidewalks as their name is called.   When a group of cars is stopped and placed in park, students are allowed to load in their car. SHS staff will make sure the lanes are clear of students. Cars are then allowed to exit campus, and the next group of cars goes through the same procedure.

For the safety of all our students, the following rules will also be implemented daily:

  • At no time can a student be dropped off or picked up in any parking lot.

  • If a student arrives after 7:45, a parent needs to walk them into the front office and check them in for the day.

  • The afternoon car line must not begin to form on the hill before 2:30. We must complete 4-K dismissal before that, and we often have students crossing the drive before this time.

  • Any student checking out must be done before 2:00 PM.

  • We cannot check students out over the phone.  Student drivers must have a signed parent note.

  • If your student needs a change of transportation (from car or bus to the other), you must come in and complete the change of transportation form.
